Of course this time of year we are looking for ways to renew and refresh ourselves and our lives. It can be so exciting but sometimes overwhelming. In 2019 I really want to take charge of our financials and that in itself is a big undertaking. So I just need to keep it simple and get back to the basics. To create simple, daily habits that bring me the most inner peace. When I break it down, these are my top 5 habits to realign in the new year. Or just make for a really happy and well-rested version of myself. Amen to that!!
1.Sleep: Duh!! Sleep is so important to health and wellness. And let’s face it. No one wants to be around me when I have had terrible sleep for multiple nights in a row! I become the ultimate boss mom and can achieve all things when I get a full 8 hours of sleep! But sometimes this is completely out of our control, especially with a little one in cold season. Absolutely make sleep a priority, but moving on in the list we will take a bit more control of our daily habits.
2. Me Time: As I have grown older, I realize just how much of an introvert I really am. Friends and co-workers never believe me when I tell them this because my job requires me to interact and be very social. I tell them I am a social introvert! LOL! But seriously, I see the definition as how you are fulfilled and recharged. Do you feed off of being around others all the time? Or does you cup fill up when you are able to spend some time alone to re-center yourself? I am certainly the latter! Whether it is getting to soak in a done up bath tub or just taking some extra time to write in my gratitude journal, I always feel better when I take time just for me!
3. Healthy Eating & Staying Hydrated: This is a no brainer and always the top of new year’s resolution lists. I certainly haven’t been putting my health first as a new mom, but there is no time like the present. Meal planning is the key for me because mapping it out helps me stay on track. I want to be my best self for my son and that starts with my health and feeling good. If you read my blog you will also know that I have been dealing with skin issues since my twenties. I have noticed a direct link between what I eat/how well I hydrate with how my sink behaves. Starting each morning with a big glass of lemon water helps me get on a great path for the day.
4. Exercise: There is nothing that can immediately effect your well being like a good work out. Getting your heart pumping, releasing those endorphins and giving you so much more energy than when you started. Like I have said before, I have really put myself on the back burner and never even really tried to lose the baby weight. There has certainly been a lot going on, but there will always be excuses. Well, I’m done with them! So for me, even just that little daily walk with my son is a great start and helping me hold on to those small wins to stay motivated.
5. Skincare: Now clearly this list is in no particular order because you know how obsessed I am with skincare. Especially this time of year! My oily skin becomes dry and starts freaking out. Keeping up with a weekly treatment schedule is paramount! I usually will exfoliate twice a week with a mask the following day. I change up my masks just depending on what my skin needs. You can totally double dip here as it really ends up being a little bit of me time as well. LOL!
Well, there it is folks! My top 5 habits to realign yourself in the new year. Whatever resolutions or goals you have set for yourself, go get ’em! Make a point to keep your focus on them. Write them down in a daily journal with your gratitude entries to keep them at the front of your mind everyday.
