I have ALWAYS been a lover of skincare! And there is something so indulgent about a body scrub. What’s crazy is that you probably use it every time you shower and they can be a bit pricey. Therefore, I started trying to find ways to make my own, because mama needs some daily pampering! LOL So here is my current fav concoction in the scrub a dub world! Get your DIY on with my go-to everyday sea salt scrub using earl grey tea!
I think I was bitten with the skincare obsession bug very early on. Probably, when my mom would treat us to a mini message or facial during our girls weekends. I had always spent more time on my facial products due to my problematic/oily skin, but when I became pregnant and all my skin started stretching. I realized that I needed to pay attention to my entire body.
Sugar vs Salt
I personally prefer a salt scrub. I just love the feel of the stronger/rougher salt rub versus a sugar one. Sugar particles are round while salt particles are not, so right away you know which one will be a bit rougher and more exfoliating. Secondly, salt has so many detoxing mineral components that are more beneficial for the body.

It’s all about the details
- Epsom or sea salt – I love the texture of epsom salt but if you like something that is a bit more gentle, I would go with sea salt. Sometimes I like to combine the two to find a happy medium.
- Earl Grey Tea – The real star of the show is the earl grey tea that I use in this scrub. And if you have read my about page, you will know I am a lover of tea. The particular one that I adore for this recipe is the Creme de la Earl Grey from Townshend Tea in Portland Oregon. It follows in traditional English style with notes of bergamot. You can use a regular earl grey, but this one is blended with blue cornflower blossoms and an essence of French crème. I have linked one that is easily sourced.
- Coconut Oil – Whichever one you prefer is good here. This recipe does not call for fractionated oil. I prefer regular coconut oil to give the scrub some thickness and weight.
- Sweet Almond Oil – I also like to add sweet almond oil so that it will be easily absorbed and really help to nourish the skin.
- Essential Oils – Depending on the season or how I am feeling, I will add a tiny bit of an essential oil. The tea and coconut oil provide the most amazing scent, but I usually like to brighten it up just so with only 2 drops of eucalyptus.
- Containers – When making these for a gift, they look so lovely in a beautiful glass jar. But if I am just making it for me to use in the shower, it is going into a plastic one. I do not trust myself not to drop it and I trust my husband and toddler less! LOL!
